Welcome to the Official Clewell Family Website

On October 5, 1737, a
twice-widowed mother
and her two
fatherless, young sons
arrived friendless and
penniless in an unfamiliar land.
Their lives
could have ended in a whisper,
but because of
their courage, strength,
and faith in the providence of God, our ancestors proudly
forged
their "chapter" in the history
of this great Nation.

1737 ~

The picture
shown above is an artist's rendition of the arrival of Louisa
Frache
Clavell (Clewell)
and her sons, Franz and George in America.
They arrived in
Philadelphia, Pennsylvania on Oct 5, 1737.
Did you know
that on October 5, 2007
it was 270 years ago,
our earliest
known Clewell ancestors
arrived in America?
